SHORT INTRODUCTION

The building of the palace was commissioned by Count Gyula Andrássy, the Prime Minister of Hungary and the first Foreign Secretary of Austria-Hungary between 1880 and 1885. It was modelled after the chateaux of the Loire Valley. The multi-towered building is one of the main works of Arthur Meinig. It features neo-Gothic and romantic marks. The palace has been fully renovated and several halls meeting all demands have been formed. The artistic value of the building was enhanced when the Andrássy dining hall designed by Rippl-Rónai became moved here. The dining hall, with Miksa Róth’s wonderful stained glass window, is one of the main attractions of the palace. A unique landmark of the garden is the boxwood labyrinth shaped like a medieval lily and encircled with yews. The beauty of the building is further increased by its majestic environment: the variety of flood and gallery forests along the rivers and their backwaters.
