One of the most imposing Wenckheim palaces of Hungary hides in Szabadkígyós. The main building is adorned with towers and a Renaissance-style terrace with a loggia. The 23-hectare palace garden has been a protected area, one of the most well-known sites of the Körös-Maros National Park, since 1954.
In front of the stately house, there lies a Baroque garden created from sculpted boxwoods and yews with a fountain in its centre. The romantic English landscape garden surrounding the building attracts visitors to walk around the artificial pond and over the bridges. The park boasts the oldest and largest plane tree of the county.
